In January 2010, the Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences founded a graduate institute at which the graduates' doctoral research projects will be collated in the future. For the time being, it is limited to five years. Professor Dr. Reiner Clement, Vice-President for Innovation and New Financial Instruments, was entrusted with the temporary management.
The Institute primarily pursues two objectives. First, it provides a platform on which individual initiatives that have been successful to date are brought together, further developed and made transparent. Second, the Institute enables linkage with approaches to the institutional and structured promotion of young people at German universities.
The Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences intends to set a visible example of structural and sustainable support for the further academic qualification of graduates from universities of applied sciences. After all, application-oriented, high-quality research has now become an integral part of many universities of applied sciences.
