Scholarship Programme of the German Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia for Students

North Rhine-Westphalia is the only federal state of Germany which, working jointly with private foundations, promotes gifted students within the framework of the NRW Scholarship Programme.

The NRW Scholarship is granted to students independently of their parents' income and is not counted towards student loans or grants in accordance with the Federal Training and Education Assistance Act (BaföG). The amount of each scholarship is € 300 per month and is paid for a minimum of two semesters; the maximum duration of support is reached when the standard course length has been exceeded. Private investors such as companies, foundations and individuals contribute the sum of € 150 to each scholarship. The remaining 50% is funded by the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The deadline for applications for the winter semester 2010/2011 has ended.
